How We do it
Your sounds are just as important to us as they are to you. However, old audio recordings are notorious for fading over time. Vinyl records can be scratched and worn down quite easily. Reel-to-Reel audio and tape cassettes can suffer heat damage or come unwound. That is why our audio technicians take special care to transfer your audio the best way possible. It's so much more than just placing your audio onto CD. The first thing we do is review and inspect the original material to be recorded. Vinyl records, for example, are cleaned by hand using a vinyl cleaner. Once prepared, your audio is ready to be digitized.
Digitizing your Audio
The most effective way to transfer audio is to digitally record it to a computer through a hardware amplifier. This allows greater control over the sound level and quality of the initial recording to the computer and requires a stand alone hardware controller. It's true that some amazing things can be done just with software adjustments on the computer, but the better the quality of the initial recording, the better the software adjustments perform, resulting in higher sound quality for your recordings.
Editing
Our audio professionals manually adjust the audio levels to current audio standards and clean up the sound by reducing or eliminating tape hiss and record pops as standard procedure during the transfer. All aspects of the recording are reviewed from bass to treble before being sent on to the final phase.
The Final Product
Your audio is placed onto CD and a verification specialist then reviews the disc to make sure all audio was successfully transferred. Then it’s packaged for delivery. Now you can easily enjoy the sounds of the past!
